species survival and 1970s paranoia. This week, we'll see how Philip Kaufman's brand of

1970s Paranoia compares to the 2019 brand, with Jordan Peel's horror movie Us, forcing a privileged

family to confront duplicates of themselves who've had a much harder and more horrifying life.

Jordan Peel has said

that his movie Us is fundamentally about America and how Americans tend to want to find a vaguely

defined other to blame for all its troubles, whether that other is people from other countries

who want to steal our jobs and freedoms or people within this country who are trying to run things

in ways we disagree with. Introducing the film at its South by Southwest premiere, he said he felt Americans need to confront the idea that maybe the
