This is an addendum where I read your letters, which I'm still in 2012, because I'm trying

to catch up you guys.

And then I talk about what dorky thing I've been doing since the last dorkidendum,

which was, I think, number seven.

So this is number eight.

Let's get to the letters.

Alison Whipple in October of 2012 wrote to me,

after spending most of the year unemployed, I now have a job that while

uninspiring and unfulfilling is allowing me to eat and pay back my student loans, so I'm

pretty much just trying to be grateful. I have never been much of a podcast person, but since

taking this job, the Doric Forest has been my primary listening material to stave off the tedium.

I was listening to episode

123 this past Friday, where you mentioned the most disgusting romance novel you have ever read.

Well, I don't doubt that it could be horrible. I can assure you that there are far more vile romance

novels out there with much worse writing. In fact, I spent a year working at a horrible smut publisher

in Austin, where I was an editor and read some truly heinous manuscripts, both in terms of content and writing quality.
