Our first experience of the night comes to us from Daphne, and Daphne's story is called

Strange Daylight.

Daphne says,

Hi, Nick, I found your podcast a few weeks ago, and I enjoy hearing about everyone's experiences.

I keep waiting to hear about one that was like mine,

but so far nothing is like it.

So I've decided to finally share it,

after 35 years of keeping it a secret,

in the hopes of someone else being able to relate something that was similar.

It was roughly 1989 when I was around 15 or so in a small coastal town in Newfoundland, Canada.

Our house sat high on a hill overlooking the rest of the harbor, and was maybe a mile down

past other houses, where there were no streetlights until you got to our driveway.

It was total darkness between the last house and hours, and it was a pretty

spooky walk alone at night. The road was very narrow and surrounded on both sides by tall spruce

and evergreen trees, as well as brush. On this particular night, I was walking home,

pushing my bike up the hill in the dark, as usual, and I noticed that

the night had gotten very still. I couldn't even hear the sounds of cars from across the harbor,

or the wind in the trees. At the same time, an area all around me, with a diameter of maybe 20 feet or so,
