This week, well, Donald Trump certainly wherever you do, you're listening. This week,

well, Donald Trump certainly seems to be off to a somewhat different approach in terms of

US foreign policy. Now, we thought from his first term that Trump, some people call him an

isolationist, but he certainly was someone who seemed to want to get the US disentangled

from foreign wars and foreign engagements. Well, of course, he started off this term, threatening

to take over Greenland, Panama, and of course, taking over Gaza and turning it apparently

into a real estate development while shipping its citizens off to other countries. Most recently, of course, and where most

of the attention now is, is Europe. He seems to want the United States still to get out

of Europe, perhaps in keeping with that previous foreign policy from the first term.

Just today, we're recording this podcast on Tuesday. He sent his Secretary of State and other

senior officials to open negotiations

with Russia over Ukraine, meeting in Saudi Arabia. And he's made it clear that he wants no part

for the United States in any post-war settlement in Ukraine. He doesn't want Ukraine to be a member

of NATO. He's given every indication he's really not that into Europe. He wants

them to take responsibility for their defence and he continues to hammer the Europeans over their

poor record of very low levels of defence spending. And all this, of course, taking place against

the backdrop of the continuing US strategic rivalry with China. What does it all amount to?
