They're not giving him a theiradickent.

That's the big takeaway.

All eyes have been on the New Yorker and jury this week after the former president's

signal to an indictment was imminent and forecast his own arrest.

Republican leaders came to his defense, crying which hunt while the media has been on pins and needles awaiting word.

The New Yorker Susan Glasser says this is exactly what Trump wanted and proves that he remains at the center of the fight for the presidency as we move toward the 2024 election.

Susan Glasser, the New York grand jury considering the case against Donald Trump and whether to indict him for the payment to a woman who claims she was paid $130,000 as her money.

The grand jury reconvened today but on a totally different case, how unusual is that considering that everybody's been assuming that the indictment or not would be coming out sometime this week.

Well, remember Diane, this is once again an expectation set by Donald Trump himself and he is nothing if not a master troll of us all.

Generally speaking, grand juries and prosecutors operate without this level of minute-by-minute media scrutiny and they take their time and these processes are opaque for a reason.

We don't exactly want cameras in the grand jury room or embedded with prosecutors as they are sifting through reams of testimony and witnesses and evidence.

So, you know, it was Donald Trump who got us all going on this with his very all caps almost hysterical announcement last Saturday morning that he was about to be arrested by Tuesday in the case.

What does it mean? It may not mean anything. If ultimately Trump is still indicted by Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan DA, then we won't remember or care that it took a few extra days longer.

But it is unusual. How unusual is it for the DA to turn to a totally different case in the middle of consideration of another?

Yeah, I'm not a lawyer but I don't think it's unusual at all. You know, often grand juries are impealed, you know, for a specific period of time they're doing, you know, what prosecutors ask of them.

If anything, this case has kind of reappeared on our radar quite quickly, which is interesting for a case that actually has been sitting around for years.

But it's been resurrected, I should say, quite, quite quickly in the last few months by Bragg when he came into the Manhattan DA's office.

I remember that this case first started working his way in a different form through the legal system back in 2018 when Trump's former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, was charged.

Cohen not has been charged, convicted, gone to jail, served his time and come back.

And we're still waiting to see if Donald Trump will face any accountability. Remember, Cohen went to jail at least in part for paying the $130,000 which he said he did.

As Hush money on Trump's behalf. So he's a guy who served jail time for this actual crime. And once again, the guy on whose behalf the money was supposedly paid still sitting free at Marlago.
