The secret service protection for Kamala Harris is going to end on September 1st.

Good. Why would any former vice president need secret service? They don't have any power

and they're not serving their country. So there's a federal law that provides protection for

six months after a VP leaves. Yeah.

Biden had extended hers to 18 months via executive order right before he left.

But Trump revoked that and said, nah, nah, we're not doing that. Yeah.

I mean, I don't understand why a former vice president would need secret service protection.

They have no power.

They weren't the president.

They don't sign bills, laws.

They don't make deals.

Vice presidents do nothing.

They used to be, now these guys want it now because it's an elevation to like Vance is finding out to be the standard bearer of the party.

And as Kamala found out, then she became the de facto nominee.

But they don't, in terms of actual doing things, there's nothing they actually do other than

break ties in the Senate.

Used to be what the thing.

They did that and go into dead heads of states' funerals that the president want to go to. That's it.

Former presidents and their spouses still get lifetime protection. So Jill Biden will be protected for the rest of her life.

Why does the spouse get one? Like, children of former presidents lose coverage after they turn 16,

unless extended via executive order. Why would they give a spouse of a former president?

Like there was, who was the old lady?
