Donald Trump called on Americans to, quote, stand united and not to allow, quote, evil to win after surviving an assassination attempt on Saturday.

The FBI identified the shooter who died at the scene as Thomas Matthew Cook's a 20 year old from Pennsylvania.

He shot at the former president with an AR-15 rifle and reportedly had materials for making explosives in his car.

One spectator was also killed in the shooting while two were critically injured.

Joe Biden echoed Mr Trump's call for unity on Sunday afternoon,

saying that the assassination attempt was, quote,

contrary to everything we stand for as a nation.

He encouraged people not to jump to assumptions about the shooter, but rather to, quote,

let the FBI do its job. Mr Biden also said he spoke with Mr Trump

and that he was, quote, sincerely grateful

that the former president was doing well.

Hamas said that it had not withdrawn from ceasefire talks despite an Israeli

strike that it is said at least killed 90 people. The target was Mohammed
