Now, many of you know these lyrics from Credence Clearwater Revival's Fortunate Sun,

a fiercely anti-war, anti-elitist anthem of resistance.

So why is it fitting that Donald Trump chose to play that song

during his $45 million authoritarian military birthday parade? Well, author and activist, Shannon Watts,

nailed the irony, writing, quote, for the kids, this is a protest song that critiques the

social injustice and class disparities of the Vietnam War draft system, unquote.

Not only is this song blatantly anti-military, it talks about rich men using their privilege to dodge

the draft.

For example, quote, I ain't no millionaire son, unquote.

That's why you got sent to war back in the day.

Donald is a fortunate son. He got five deferments from fighting in Vietnam because he submitted a doctor's note saying he had

bonespurs that made it hard for him to walk. In 2016, he claimed that, quote, over a period of time,

it healed up, unquote. Well, hmm, we actually know that that isn't true. Also, by the way, he couldn't even remember which foot it was,

which you would think he would be able to do since, first of all, according to him

and his amazing score on the cognitive test he's been given.

He has an incredible memory.

But two, that saved him from having to serve in a horrific war. Also, let's keep in mind

that because he got five the ferments, five other men were chosen to serve in his place.

And because we don't know who they were,

we don't know what happened to them.
