Well, in 2012, Daniel Day Lewis won the Academy Award for Best Actor in his portrayal

of President Abraham Lincoln.

And the seriousness with which he took that role is legendary.

He isolated himself for months, read laboriously through pages of firsthand accounts of interactions

with the President so he could mimic exactly his gentle tenor and reedy and slightly cracked

voice so he could master his shuffling, flat-footed step.

And then he stayed in character for months all throughout the filming.

And so his peers even today marvel at his preparation and unwavering commitment to that

role of embodying the President of the United States.

And if you've seen him in that role, it's a gift to all those who see it.

Now 12 years earlier, Brendan Frazier, the actor from such hits as Encino Man in the

Mummy, also portrayed Abraham Lincoln in the Romantic comedy, but dazzled.

Critics were less complimentary of that film, describing it as quote, weak, pitiful, and

persistently unfunny.

Now while Brendan Frazier undoubtedly possesses talent, critics were not as convinced by

his performance largely due to the fact that he did not embrace that role with this

same seriousness as Daniel Day Lewis.

And therefore it was a less transporting performance as he portrayed the 16th President of the

United States.
