Okay, are you ready to get your mind aligned with the truth of God's

word? We're going to be doing so today again in Romans chapter 7. So get out your Bibles and we are

going to launch into it in just a moment. But before we do, I would love to pray together right now

for us to have understanding of these complex but liberating issues that the

Apostle Paul is teaching us in the book of Romans. Lord Jesus, we need your help. These are deep

spiritual truths and realities that we need to grasp. And the Apostle Paul has penned this letter to help us understand. But, Lord,

we need to understand it as you do. So guide us and help us illuminate our minds. We depend on you.

In your name we pray. Amen. All right, Romans chapter 7, we will be looking at verses 13 and 14 today.

And the Apostle Paul has been trying to help us understand our relationship to the Old Testament moral law.

Now that we're believers in Jesus Christ.

And it's kind of walking through the history of what happened when the law was introduced

into the world. And we are at verse 13 in chapter 7 and he has just told us that this spiritual

power called sin takes advantage of us when we hear the law of God by driving us to do the very thing God's moral

law says we should not do. And so in verse 13, he says, did that which is good then bring death to me?

So he's saying, so does the law bring spiritual death to me? Since it's the law that the power of sin

takes advantage of? He says, by no means, it was sin. Producing death in me through what is good,

through the law, in order that sin might be shown to be sin and through the commandment

might become sinful beyond measure for we know that the law is spiritual but i am of the flesh

sold under sin so what paul's trying to drive home here is that the law,
