Hey everybody welcome back to Cold Case Murder Mysteries. I'm your host Ryan Krauss back at you once again to crack open the criminal mind and shine a light inside,

this time in the form of 11-year-old Jordan Brown, who was convicted of the 2009 shotgun

murder of his father's pregnant fiancee 26-year-old Kensey Marie

Halk, and her unborn son, only to have the conviction overturned nearly a

decade later as an adult. Now this isn't enough material for a long episode, but I wanted

to touch upon some of the more interesting aspects of the case. The big question of course is,

did he or didn't he but beyond that there are other

considerations about the ethical treatment of children in the judicial and prison

systems as Brown's term behind bars wasn't without ample controversy.

So on the morning of February 20th 2009, Chris Brown, Jordan's father, leaves their

Rohra Wampum PA home to go to work and later says that Kenzy had asked him to stay home with her, which he declined in favor of going to work.

It's a decision that comes to haunt him because soon after somebody puts a shotgun to the back of

Kenzie's head while she's sleeping and pulls the trigger. She and the baby are

killed instantly. No witnesses, no physical evidence of an intruder.

Really, not many clues at all.

At home prior to the murder were her seven-year-old daughter, Janessa,

four-year-old daughter,essa, four-year-old daughter Adelin, and Chris Brown's 11-year-old son

Jordan. They had recently moved into a farmhouse together, blending the families with children

from previous relationships.

It was a school day, meaning Jordan and Janessa would be catching the bus nearby.

According to Jordan, he and Janessa sat on the couch in the living room until Kenzi called out to them that the bus was coming and they were going to be late.
