Good morning. This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast.

Today's tip is that it is fine to have weaknesses. It's good to acknowledge them.

But, and this is the most important part, don't stay there. Make a plan to improve.

I am all about knowing ourselves. We've all been asked about our greatest weakness in job interviews,

and while that is a terrible question, knowing that we have areas where we struggle is important.

That said, I've noticed that sometimes when people acknowledge their weaknesses,

they feel free from responsibility for overcoming those weaknesses.

I am sure you've noticed this too. Someone says, I'm terrible with names,

and you know this person is not even going to bother trying to remember yours.

Someone says, oh, I'm always late, and just expects you to deal with that.

A colleague says, I'm terrible at organizing meetings, as a way to explain why his meander,

and don't seem to accomplish much. Or perhaps a relative says he just doesn't know how to use Zoom,

and expects you to go to his apartment every week to set it up for your extended family Zoom call.

The crazy thing about this is that no one is naturally good or bad at anything.

When people appear to be naturally gifted at remembering names, it's because they consider it

rude to forget a name. And so they have put the time and mental effort into making sure they
