0:22.2	pretend like they don't exist, but they're there.
0:25.5	And if you're anything like me, you can't resist the urge to slow down.
0:29.8	Pull on that weird thread just a little bit and see what strange places it leads.
0:34.8	So I'm going to be honest, today's passage gets strange.
0:38.6	We'll look at the tip of the iceberg, but man this iceberg goes deep.
0:43.0	Let's start with the passage.
0:44.2	It tells of the exploits of David's mighty men, warriors who fought on his behalf.
0:49.5	But what makes this passage so strange is that it wants to stress one central theme.
0:55.0	David's mighty men were literal giant slayers.
0:59.0	Okay, let's hop in.
1:00.0	First Chronicles 20 verse 4.
1:02.0	And after this, there arose a war with the Philistines at Gieser
1:06.6	Then Sibakai the Hushothite struck down Sipai who was one of the descendants of the Giants and the Philistines were subdued.
1:16.1	And there was again war with the Philistines and Al-Hannan, son of Jair, struck down Lami,
1:22.0	the brother of Goliath, the Gittite.
1:24.3	Another giant, by the way, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
1:29.2	And there was, again, war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, 24 in number, and he was also descended from the Giants.
