Summary

Teacher Work Life Balance, Is It Real?

Your innate skill to do it all and then some, sometimes makes you forget that while you are a superhero, you still need to be able to protect yourself from burnout. So in today’s episode I want to chat about some of the things you can do to prevent burn out and find your version of work life balance as a teacher.

Tips For Work Life Balance

I know that you have had some of the hardest years in education. HOW you ask? Because I listen to my community (+ burnout has been around longer than the last few years). I see all you are doing to hold it together for your students, your family, and your own sanity.

I want to share the tips and strategies that finally helped me see the bigger picture! The same tips and strategies that have helped our students feel at peace with the choices they make (whether they choose to make their impact in the classroom, or uncovering their deepest desires and impacting education in a unique or non-traditional way).

I encourage you to take what you need from this episode and leave the rest!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How to effectively balance your home and work life (when it feels like everything is stacked against you)
  • The amount of hours you are most likely and realistically working
  • Why you need to get RADDCL (pronounced radical) in your approach
  • Steps to take when trying to grow a teacher business too!

Hello, CEO teachers. Welcome back to the show. Thank you, as always, for being a listener.

And today we're going to talk about a topic that everyone talks about. I tried to stay away from

0:10.7

this, guys. I absolutely despise when people try to teach you balance because I don't believe that

0:17.7

balance really exists. I believe that every person has their own

0:21.1

version of that. But what I do know is that I've gotten really good at understanding habits and

0:26.3

discipline and routines lately while I've been going through this journey of 75 hard. I feel the

0:32.4

best I've ever felt. I cognitively and physically feel more alive than I have ever in my entire life. And so I thought,

0:42.1

okay, you guys constantly, I mean, that's our number one message that we get is Casey, how do you

0:47.7

do it all? And so today we're going to talk about the system and the process that I use to help

0:53.1

me, quote unquote, do it all. But before I get there that I use to help me quote unquote do it all.

0:54.6

But before I get there, I want to be very honest.

0:58.9

If you're listening to this and you don't know me, hello, I'm so happy that you're here.

And if you do know me, maybe you've forgotten.

1:05.2

I am not a classroom teacher anymore.

1:09.6

I was an eighth grade English and language arts teacher for

1:13.5

eight years. I have been out of the classroom since January of 2018. So please take what I say

1:22.7

with a grain of salt and know that I live a very fulfilled life of freedom that does not require a lot of work.

1:29.8

So what I do may not fit for you.

1:32.3

But what we tried to do in today's show was to take some of the habits and the routines

1:36.5

that I have learned and show you how you can do it too.

1:40.3

So whether your goal is to stay in the classroom and learn how to balance all the things

1:46.5

or to leave the classroom, I can help you do both. Thanks so much for listening and I'll see you
