Three minutes after ten, and special prize this morning,

if you know the difference between the European Court of Human Rights

and the European Convention on Human Rights, which apparently is still eluding some contributors

to public discourse. But we will begin instead in the realms of the future. Do you know two thoughts,

a little bit personal, but I know you don't mind. I can't expect you to confide or

trust in me if I don't confide and trust in you. The first is thinking about the future. I don't

know whether it's because my oldest has gone away to university, which is weird. I think going to

boarding school, obviously it messes you up in all sorts of ways and also provides you in some sense with skills or attributes that are of use in our society for good or for real.

But I don't know that you're ever prepared for that schism.

Because if you go away to board when you're 10 or 13,

you kind of get used to it. You don't realize you're getting used to it. But goodness me,

they leave a big hole, don't they? When they go away. And it's not just university. Obviously

leaving home for the first time, which will probably happen a little bit later.

But when they go away to university, my goodness me, it leaves it.

But I thank you for all the messages I got last week, by the way, when I took a slightly unscheduled.

I nearly said unscripted.

I don't think anything on this program has ever happened that is scripted.

So I took an unschedule.

It's not much of a schedule either, is there?

But there is a schedule of shortch. I took a little moment last week to urge you if your children

are younger than mine, to carve out a little bit of time with them because it is over before.
