Summary
Do you have an email list for your business? Friends, this week was an absolute first in my entrepreneurial journey. I mean, who would ever have thought we'd have a Facebook and Instagram shutdown the way we did. If you do not have other avenues to communicate with your audience outside of social media, now is the time to make sure you do. I was reminded this week of how important this is, which really makes me want to remind you, as well. Here's the hard truth...you do not own any of your social media. If Facebook or Instagram were to go away permanently, HOW would you connect with your customers/audience? Let's talk about that.

| 1:14.5 | So once I've slept through a couple, I think the five to six hours that Facebook and Instagram were both down yesterday was the longest that I've seen. |
| 1:23.5 | So that has really led to some interesting, you know, conversation inside of my coaching group. |
| 1:27.5 | It's led to some interesting conversations in my DMs. |
| 1:30.5 | It's led to so many people saying, Jen, thank you so much for forcing me to get an email list, even when I didn't want to and I'm not saying that is a way to pat myself on the back. |
| 1:39.5 | I want to bring this up so that you're not caught in the future at any time by surprise. |
| 1:47.5 | If if and when social media goes down again, and I would like to just say it'll be when it won't be if it'll be when. |
| 1:52.5 | And how are you going to still communicate with your clients? How are you still going to communicate with your customers? How are you still going to make money? |
| 1:59.5 | If the next time it's not five hours, but it's five days, what if it was five weeks? What if we had an outage for five months? |
| 2:07.5 | Would you still make any money? Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, Jen, come on, that's not even realistic. |
| 2:12.5 | Okay, I understand that. But also, you know, as a 50 year old woman, I've been around at this point long enough to know that sometimes we see things happen that we just never saw coming. |
