Life is a journey, and God has provided songs to help us along the way.

When you're on a trip, one of the things that you're always looking for are landmarks.

Just recently I said to a man, is there a certain landmark that I can watch for that will help me to find where I'm going?

If you're driving down the interstate, there are mile markers.

What are these?

There are things that remind us that we're moving in the right direction, that keep us moving

in the right direction. Well, that's what you find in the next traveler's Psalm, Psalm 132. It's the longest

of all of these songs of degrees. It's 18 verses long. And it is a beautiful Psalm. We're going to walk through it in just a moment it's centered on

the king it's a royal psalm of david and it breaks down into two parts two halves verses one through

ten rehearses david's commitment to god what he wanted to do in building a house for the Lord. You remember David's

desire to build a temple and God said to him, no, I'm going to build you a house instead and your

son's going to build the temple someday. But it reviews for us what God did in David's life. Then when you

come to verse 11 through verse 18, it flips.

And instead of rehearsing what David wanted to do for the Lord, we reminded what the Lord

did for David. You know, God's word and God's promises are always far greater than any man's.

Psalm with you, and here's my prayer today. My prayer is that not only will you see David's landmarks,

his mile markers, his history, and what God did for him, but you'll be reminded of your own.
