Ever since age of 16, I have developed a great deal of interest in what people say, the last

words they speak before they depart our shore into heaven's shore. And that started at the age of 16

because that was the time when my siblings and I were surrounding my mother's deathbed.

And her last words were, I can hear them singing, I can hear them singing, and within seconds

she joined that chorus.

And so I discovered that the last words that a person speaks, truly a summary of their life,

D. L. Moody's last words were, Earth is receding, heaven is opened. John Wesley's last

words were, the best of all is God with us. Charles Wesley, his brother,

his last words were, I shall be satisfied with the likeness. Satisfied, satisfied, satisfied.

Peter Marshall, who lived in Atlanta and ministered here before he became the chaplain

to the Senate, a Scotsman by birth. Before he died, he looked at his wife and he said,

see you in the morning. I even like the fact that there are some people who maintain their sense of humor all the way to the end.

There was a man story told about a man by the name of John Drew, after whom the Drew Seminary in the

North is named. He was dying and his family was surrounding him. And one of his daughters came

running from the outside,

who's been away, just got in, and she said,

is he dead?

Is he dead?

And her sister said, well, we're not sure.

But feel his feet.

Feel his feet.

No one ever died with warm feet.
