I'm happy again to bring Sheikh Omar Salayman to this conversation for this very special

presentation as we come into the month of October since it is the domestic violence awareness

month.

I thought it was very important that we bring this issue up to our community.

I know it's a very sensitive subject, not so many people love to talk about it, it's

very, very critical issue obviously and unfortunately as a cultural, traditional community, there's

a lot of shame shrouded in this subject and that's why it's not very comfortable for people

to talk about.

So Sheikh Omar myself, we said you know what, we need to bring this out, we need to be

able to get comfortable with that because it is a problem that we need to face and we

need to deal with insha'Allah to baraka wa ta'ala.

Our purpose over here is not only to shame anybody with that, as much as we would like to extend

a hand of support insha'Allah to Allah for the victims of domestic violence and domestic

abuse.

We would like them to know that as a community, as imams, as leaders of this community and

as also as parents, myself as a father, Sheikh Omar as well and as husbands, we would like

to make our statement very, very clear that we stand with the victims of domestic abuse

and domestic violence.
