Troy Ackman has talked a couple of times on podcasts about his role with the dolphins and how he's been involved.

Have you consulted with him since being hired and how do you envision his role during the season with the team?

Yeah, I think right now Troy's been a good sounding board.

He's a guy that I've talked to a few times.

We've had some really good conversations and I'll continue to do that.

Jeff Haffley yesterday, meeting with reporters on the first day of the first offseason program

for the Miami Dolphins under Haffley and GM John Eric Sullivan. And it's the first time anyone

from the Dolphins had been asked point blank about

Troy Aikman's ongoing role with the team. Quick summary. He started as a consultant for the GM job.

Along the way, they fired coach Mike McDaniel. So they asked him to consult in the coaching search.

And then after that, he was on some podcast that isn't even a sports podcast.

And he just kind of casually said he's going to keep working for the Dolphins.

Like, what?

What?

And then last week with Clarence Hill of DLLS, he got into it some more.

He said the role is yet to be defined. And if I'm the

NFL, the first thing I'm doing is I'm calling the Dolphins, I'm saying, tell us what his role is,

tell us what his duties are so we can figure out what limits, if any, are going to be placed

upon his access. Sounding board, you know, Tom Brady has used that phrase in reference to himself.

I'm a sounding board for the football operations.

So at least we know that much.
