He draped her in dazzling jewelry and crowned her head in colorful flowers to set off her lovely features.

Soon, the time of year to celebrate the goddess Aphrodite was fast approaching.

Offerings were being prepared for the goddess, and Pigmalion spent hours in prayer, begging for Aphrodite to turn his ivory creation into a real woman.

On the day of the festival, when Aphrodite heard of Pigmalion's feelings for his beautiful creation, she was deeply touched.

She decided that she would go to his workshop on her own to see the famous statue for herself.
