operators in Puget Sound are working to upgrade their engines in order to reduce emissions,

but uncertainty around federal

government grants is tangling up their efforts. We'll talk about what it means in a minute,

but first, let's get you caught up. Democrats and the state Senate plan to unveil their

budget proposal for the next two years this morning.

Seattle Times reports Dems will propose a 5% pay cut for nearly every state employee.

Lawmakers are trying to solve a multi-billion dollar budget gap.

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans have different ideas.

They want to eliminate raises for state workers and give them a $5,000

bonus instead. Today's news conference begins at 10. Hey last minute, campers, the state is trying to make

it easier for you to get a site. Starting today, you can reserve a campsite at any state park on the same

day you want to visit.

Used to be that you had to show up at the park in person to see if there were any camping spots. The new system has been in place at some parks since 2023. The park's department

says it's brought in more than 7,000 reservations that otherwise would have gone unused.
