The context here is the day of the Lord, the final judgment that is coming and how we should live in light of that.

And Peter says, you know, in the previous chapter, 2 Peter 2, he had this long discussion

about false teachers in the church, leading people astray. And a part of what they would say,

he goes on to express here in chapter 3 is this sort of scoffing at this idea of the Lord's
