In this entire summary of justification, justification by faith is shorthand for justification

by Christ through faith.

We're justified only on the basis that the consequences of sin would decryce and were forgiven

and on the basis of Christ's righteousness imputed to us received by faith alone.

So our good works are real and they matter, but they are the result of salvation, not a part

of it.

So the assurance of the gospel rests not in our performance, but in Christ.
