Summary

Dr. Leighton Flowers, Director of Evangelism and Apologetics for Texas Baptists, covers the topic of Prefaith Regeneration (Does Regeneration precede Faith?) or "Does cleaning precede confession?"
He addresses this contentious topic by engaging with a Calvinistic podcast called "Sonic Reformation" which has brought much critique against Dr. Flowers teaching over the last several months.

Hello and welcome back to SoTriology 101.

Today we're going to talk a little bit more about does regeneration precede faith?

0:18.4

And the way I want to engage with this particular topic this time is by engaging with a

0:22.9

podcast called Sonic Reformation. This is the pastor that I had on several months back who had been

0:30.6

critiquing me on his podcast, and he kind of abruptly left, and I don't know that he's real happy

0:35.5

with me. And that's unfortunate. I'm not trying to

0:38.6

make up somebody upset. Obviously, I've tried to be as cordial and nice. You can go back and listen to my

0:44.8

engagement with him to see that I extended the offer in the hand of mercy to say, hey, we can do this

0:52.5

another time or we can talk about this in a different way,

0:54.8

or if you want to approach a different subject or go a different direction,

0:57.7

you know, you can only do so much to be at peace with other people.

1:02.0

And eventually you just kind of go, yeah, I tried.

1:04.1

You know, I don't know what else to do here.

1:06.0

And unfortunately, sometimes it's just a maturity issue with regard to understanding that just

1:12.1

because somebody believes differently than you do doesn't mean they're nefarious.

1:15.7

Sometimes you just automatically assume somebody else must be a sneaky snake who's just

1:20.3

nefarious and mean if they believe something different about the Bible than I do.

1:24.2

And once you get to a particular place where you've done this enough and you see enough people

1:28.7

who just honestly, they intend well, they're good people, they just read a passage and they think

1:34.6

differently than you do. And it doesn't mean that they're in smoke-filled rooms, you know,

1:39.9

back there going, ah, ha, I'm going to try to get those darn Calvinist, bah, you know, and I'm out there to get them.

1:45.4

And I know there are some people on my side of things, theoretically, who think about Calvinists that way,
