especially given the age that we live in and in watching our brothers and sisters in the middle

east suffer at the hands of ISIS being driven from their homes and from their towns. This is a

0:09.7

particularly relevant question from Kevin in California. Dear Pastor John, in Matthew 6 we read,

0:16.4

what shall we eat or what shall we drink or what shall we wear for the pagans run after these things

0:22.2

and your heavenly Father knows that you need them but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness

0:27.6

and all these things will be given to you as well. So if this is true, why are there still millions

0:33.5

1:38.6

is in verse 33 that he quotes, but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these

1:47.7

things will be added to you. And the all these things clearly is referring back to what are you

1:55.1

going to eat, what are you going to drink, what are you going to wear? And he's saying, don't be

1:59.3

anxious about any of those things. And now he ends by saying you're going to have all of those

2:04.4

that you need. So Kevin raises the question rightly, well, Christians, Christians ever perish from

2:12.0

exposure or starvation is Jesus promising that his followers who have faith will never lack food,

2:20.6

never lack clothing. That's what it sounds like. Now several things should give us pause.
