What's going on everybody? My name is Alex. Welcome back to the Alex Wilson podcast. Today's question is,

does God need us? You may have heard this song out there called What a Beautiful Name by Hill Song.

And in it, there's a verse that says, you didn't want heaven without us. That is heretical. At least if you

interpret that to mean that God needed something, that he was bored.

He was lonely.

And so he didn't want heaven without us.

And so he had to make someone.

He had to make us.

God is self-sufficient.

He doesn't need anything or anyone outside of himself.

Christians are monotheistic, not polytheistic. Polytheism is

believing in many gods. And so many people take the word Trinity that's not mentioned in the

Bible and they think that's that's heretical. That's that's polytheism. Christians believe in one

God. We believe in a God that is one, but he is triune. There's one God. We believe in a God that is one, but he's triune. There's one God in three persons. Now, as we look at

this truth, we're going to see at least three reasons why God does not need us, and then how

that's good news. That is actually really good news. You might be thinking,

Alex, how is that good news? If we're not needed by God, then that means maybe we're not loved by God.

We're not valued by God. We're not respected by God. So let's look at the Trinity and the three

reasons why God does not need us. And then we'll see why that's good news. We're going through this thing called

the New City Catechism. A Catechism is a series of questions and answers that help you grow in the

core beliefs of your faith so you can grow closer to God. And the Catechism is something that's been

going on for centuries in the church. And so I thought it's a great way for us to really grow closer
