How many of you didn't grow up in a Christian home?

And so I didn't know that there were, you know, Christian bands,

and I didn't know that there were Christian books,

and Christian movies, and I missed all of the Evangelical subculture,

and I thank God every day honestly I do and so

God saved me at the age of 19 in college

cute gal gave me a Bible and I got saved reading that Bible.

I married that girl.

We just celebrated 31 years of faithful marriage.

And I always say, if you're a single guy, here's how it if she gives you a Bible you give her a ring that's that's a good deal

And so then I started teaching the Bible in a city called Seattle that was very, very liberal,

very progressive, very, very left of left, of left.

And I started doing college ministry.

And if you want to see where the future is going. doing college

campuses are upstream, so what's being being taught there will be lived in the rest of the culture within a few decades.

And so if you want to know where we're going, go to a college campus.

So I got saved in college. I started ministering largely to college students in a very liberal progressive city and started teaching through books of the Bible and I've been a senior pastor now for this is my 28th year and I've been a pastor for 30 years teaching through books of the Bible. I'm 53 I know I don't look at day over 85 but I'm 53 and I spent most of my life teaching books of the Bible and so I wanted to teach the Bible to people who didn't grow up in

church and didn't grow up knowing Jesus and so we started with college students a

lot of punk rock kids it was back in the grunge days you know it smelled like

unholy spirit the kind of their nirvana years and and then and then and then all

these kids started coming and they had no church background,

they had no Bible background, no faith background, and I was telling them about Jesus
