0:36.8	does he care why I serve? Well today's question we're going to tackle is really
0:41.3	similar to those questions. Here it is, does claiming
0:44.8	your giving on your taxes negate spiritual blessings? You get the logic here, right?
0:51.1	If I give to Christian ministries or to my church, then I can claim that on my taxes as
0:56.4	charitable giving. That allows me to pay less taxes and keep more money in my pocket. So does that
1:02.2	negate the spiritual blessings that I hope to receive
1:04.5	from God? I really like this question because it acknowledges that motives are
1:08.3	important. It's not just what you do, but it's also why you do it. We can do the right thing for the wrong
1:15.4	reason and ruin the very thing we did. Imagine I bring home flowers for my
1:20.7	wife and because I don't do that very often she's really thrilled
1:24.1	with them. Well at least she's thrilled until she asks why I got them for her and I
1:29.5	tell her that well I heard another woman in your office got flowers and I didn't want to look bad
1:33.9	compared with that other husband or I tell her well I kind of felt obligated to get
1:39.4	you flowers since you got me a gift last week.
1:47.0	Receiving a gift that was given out of love or appreciation feels a lot different than receiving a gift given out of duty or obligation
1:51.0	or to impress other people. Years ago I knew a guy who was
1:55.7	married and he had gotten his wife flowers every month for the last number of years and
