So you can join in the group chat for our conversation next week. But this week we're discussing the documentary. There's something wrong with Aunt Diane. It came out in 2011.

It's based on the horrific accident that took place on July 26, 2009, when Diane Schuller drove the wrong way on the Taconic State Parkway and killed eight people, including her two-year-old daughter and three young nieces.

The documentary crew reached out to the family

six months after the accident, and we basically follow her husband, Danny, and her sister-in-law,

Jay, as they try to figure out what exactly happened to Aunt Diane, or Diane Schuller.

This documentary, to me me leaves listeners with about as many questions and not to trivialize their experience as the family has.

You are left not understanding what happened at all.

As Natalie mentioned, Diane got on the Ficonic State Parkway in 2009 with her children

and nieces in the car and drove for about two miles going the wrong way. This includes lots of 911 calls from passers-by, including one couple who

was getting off the state parkway while she was getting on going in the wrong direction.

So they were getting off on the off-ramp correctly, and she was getting on via that off ramp, thus ended up going the wrong way.

Again, for two miles. People were very concerned, and we still don't know why. And there's so many

more questions, too, that we're going to get into. And it's also important to note that she was going

80 miles per hour the wrong way on what's basically the freeway.

Like you mentioned, countless people were able to avoid collision by veering into the side of the road the other way because she was dead set ongoing where she was going.
