Summary

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is more Marvel fare and delivers exactly what you'd expect, but Sam Raimi is in full Raimi form with enough of a twist to keep it interesting. It's just too bad that it's co-protagonist is a MacGuffin. Hello everyone, welcome to another first round bald movie of the pulp persuasion.

0:04.8

Jim and I went to go see Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madness directed by Sam Raimi.

0:13.1

You might know this gentleman from the various evil deads he's done and the original Spider-Man

0:18.6

trilogy back to the Marvel universe, back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time

0:24.4

returning. He's written by Michael Waldron, you'll recall that he is the upjunct

0:29.6

Rick and Morty writer that also pinned Loki back for more multiverse action. It stars all

0:36.0

the people you expect and a whole bunch of people, maybe you don't. If you stayed away from spoilers

0:41.2

and whatnot, so we're not going to spoil that for you, not yet. We're going to get into the

0:47.6

premium section before we start to dish in that. And we'll talk about trailers first, so don't

0:51.8

don't freak out, don't panic. Jim, you're the wildcard here. What did you think of Dr. Strange

0:57.7

and the multiverse of madness? It was good. It was good, not great. It's enjoyable. I mean,

1:06.0

it's a Marvel movie, right? They've got the formula nailed. The only real problem I see is that

1:13.1

there's too much of it and it's not like quantity of movies. It's too much everything. It's like

1:18.8

there is so much fighting in this movie. There is so much extra in this movie that it just

1:27.9

kind of gets in the way of enjoying a movie. I don't know. And so the stuff I think they're doing

1:36.2

that's good on a human characterization level just kind of gets overshadowed by fight after

1:43.2

fight after fight. And they all look roughly the same. Like, yeah, this movie has a lot of gimmicks

1:48.4

and they are pretty cool gimmicks, but they're still gimmicks. And I just like that blinds me to

1:55.6

the cool stuff that they're doing. Well, I actually like comic book movies and I thought this is a

2:02.8

pretty great one. This is not the best film the Marvels put out, but like, you know, it probably

2:09.0

helps that I've seen all the stuff I need to see. I saw all of them. I've seen, yeah, pretty much

2:15.6

all the Marvel stuff. And I think if you are asking me what you need to see, it really helps
