0:10.7	And we're praying this message helps you deepen your relationship with him.
0:15.3	Now let's dive in.
0:17.2	Pastor Joby, one of the things that you are doing for this Gospel of Matthew study is zooming out, if you will, and we're looking at a big picture.
0:26.9	And we're about to step into this sermon on the mount for the next several weeks.
0:31.1	So if you put the lens on of Jesus to Moses, what becomes illuminated as you look at this sermon section.
0:41.8	Yeah. Matthew wants us to connect all the dots. He's already given a bunch, you know,
0:47.3	like the boys under two are killed in Moses' life. And in Jesus' life, Moses goes to Egypt Egypt or, you know, takes people out of Egypt,
0:57.6	Jesus flees to Egypt, all these things.
1:01.7	Moses goes up on Mount Sinai and receives the law of God.
1:07.0	Jesus, with a new and greater covenant, is going to go up on the mountain and not say you can't come up here unless you're consecrated or holy
1:14.4	But come with me and
1:17.4	He is going to lay out not a new law, but he's going to lay out really our need based on the law for what he is going to do
1:25.9	And I think that's you know a lot of people miss it that way.
1:29.6	They just substitute, but this is the New Testament ethic that replaced the Old Testament ethic.
1:34.6	I don't think that's the point whatsoever.
1:37.6	Do I remember correctly that you said that Matthew's Gospel has five main teaching sections?
1:43.0	Five main teaching sections, correct.
1:45.0	The first one is how ought a Christian to live.
1:48.0	That's what this one is.
1:50.0	And then they'll be pieced together with a few parables and events.
