larger than life? Only to feel a little deflated when you realized they were human just like the rest of us.

Kind of like the Wizard of Oz, you pull back the curtain and you realize it's just a man standing on a podium back there.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was arguably one of the great

presidents in American history and part of his power and effectiveness came

through his image but he was so concerned about that image that he made

sure he was never video or photographed in his wheelchair. Even though he

developed polio at the age of 39 and had to be lifted in and out of bed by a valet.
