John and David share their story about how they got into debt, why it is so alluring, and what they did to get out of debt. This is a problem shared by most people in the US. It is hard to avoid debt as it is so pervasive and seductive. Yet if you want to be financially free and lift the psychological burden that keeps you from your own financial freedom, you need to know how to be smart with debt.

John and David talk about the 5 Steps to Being Debt Free, The Lasso Method, The Debt Avalanche, Debt Snowball, and many more strategies to eliminate debt in your life.

both of you guys on. So I wanted to talk to you a little bit about your background because I think to me it's fascinating. I know we've been friends for a while, but tell us a bit about your background. How did you guys get into being debt-free guys? Oh, how far back do you want to go?

When we realized how much debt we had, we sort of peeled back the onion and we're like, we've

1:16.9

been acquiring this for some time now.

1:19.3

So I think the debt story actually for both of us probably goes back to the late 90s,

remember it was 19 or 20. My parents wanted to give me a graduation present. And so they saved up

1:36.9

some money and I saved up some money and they paid for half of a trip for me to go to Ireland

and England. We had lived in Ireland for a while when I was younger,

so I was going back to visit friends. My mom got me a credit card at the credit union as an
