0:14.5	2022, Stinford University released its harmful language list. And it was this
0:20.0	list and it said the intent was to eradicate many forms of harmful language and the words came
0:25.5	under 10 categories. Now after lots of concern and backlash they took it down a couple of weeks later and they made this statement.
0:33.4	They said while the primary motivation of the initiative was always to promote a more
0:38.0	inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals from all backgrounds felt they belong, it was time to pull back and
0:44.4	reconsider. The question is, what is harmful? What's our intent? And when Jesus
0:52.2	talked with people in the Gospels, he was concerned with their hearts and not with their approval.
0:57.0	Some of the things Jesus taught were offensive to the culture.
1:01.0	Far from having approval, Jesus was mocked and he was questioned and he was rejected.
1:06.0	Sometimes he was mocked because of where he was born and raised.
1:10.0	Sometimes he was mocked for saying things about how to live that were costly to a person's livelihood or reputation.
1:17.0	Sometimes he was mocked for saying the truth about how God defines human flourishing.
1:22.0	Then when we let our Bible be our guides for how to live,
1:25.0	we face some of the same challenges.
1:27.0	harmful language, I mean that's not excused.
1:30.0	We're not supposed to go around hurting people.
1:32.0	But it's especially hard if we're not supposed to go around hurting people.
1:32.8	But it's especially hard if we're trusting in people and sources
1:36.9	other than Jesus to find our approval
