All right, y'all, listen, I want to get into this conversation. And while the conversation

is about the latest and most awful things that this administration is doing and the particular

ways in which it is going to impact our community to the extent it has not started already,

this segment could actually be called something along the lines of, do we believe them yet?

There was a moment where I would read a lot of Octavia Butler

and a lot of sort of Afrofuturism and science fiction.

And I would often think about time travel in terms of race relations, right?

And I always had this question, what would it have been like

if somebody could have, from our present era, gone back into time to essentially warn the coastal Africans, amen, don't trust them people?

They don't mean you no good.

Would we have listened?

Would our ancestors, I guess I should say, have listened?

Would they have thought that the folks who were from this weird future time, would they have thought

they were something scary to be afraid of, would there have been a way for them to communicate?

I don't know. But it feels in many ways like we are getting a hell of a lot of warning signs

about what is happening and what is coming. And my question just simply is, as you listen to

this news brief, do we believe them yet?

And I think by the time we reach the end, you'll understand why that question is going to matter

as much as it does. Do you remember how in the past we've talked about this thing called
