All right, today is Memorial Day.

And so I wanted to do an episode talking a little bit about what Memorial Day means and specifically

talking about a good friend of mine that I served with who lost his life in Afghanistan.

I was not on the, I was not still in the military when he was killed in Afghanistan, but I did get to serve with him in Iraq in 2008, 2009.

Just an incredible soldier.

And so that's what I want to do today.

A couple of things right off the bat.

I've noticed something as of late.

And it's a positive thing.

People are trying to get people to understand the difference

between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

So, you know, in Veterans Day, we honor all those who served.

And Memorial Day, we specifically honor those who lost their life

and service to their country.

And I've noticed some people can be a little bit harsh on making that distinction. And so one of the things I always try to do is when Memorial Day comes around and somebody says, you know, hey, Nick, thank you for your service and whatnot. I always say, you know, thank you. Today is the day I, you know, I remember friends of mine that didn't come home, right? I try to, I try to reorient it,

but I try to reorient it gently because when someone is thanking you for their service, they're really trying to do the right thing. And so I think it's, I think you'd be a little bit silly to almost like, you know, kind of abruptly correct someone and say, no, no, no, it's Memorial It's for this. Thank you. Today's the day. I remember

those who didn't come home. And so in honor of that, I want to remember my friend Dejan Park.

So let me go ahead and bring this up. And I don't want to just remember the fact that he died in

service to his country.

I want to tell you a little bit about who he was because I think this is important.

I think it's important that when we remember those who died, we don't just remember the

circumstances of their death, but we remember how they lived and the various people they
