Summary

Dan and Nick take a look at one of the key stated objectives by Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll to get faster at WR when they arrived by first looking at their route-weighted speed in WR in 2022 when they took over to where it is now, how they've added stop-and-start ability as well, and what this means from a schematic standpoint and from a ceiling standpoint for the offense in 2024. Welcome back. It's the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:07.3

Joined as always my goes, Nick Vallado, excited to talk football with you today. It's been a little while.

0:11.7

And one thing I wanted to discuss with you today because I tweeted about Nick, it caught some attention from Giants fans.

0:16.8

And so I wanted to get your opinion on it. And that's a tweet I made about the difference in the giant speed at the wide receiver position. And we'll take it to the skill positions as well because I want to discuss that as well now versus when Joe Shane got here. So let's start Nick by discussing. Actually, before I do that, I want to give a quick shout out because this is something I haven't discussed with you yet either. Last week, and I'll keep this short because I know some people enjoy this. Some people don't enjoy this aspect of the pod, but some people do. And last week, I was golfing, solo ground, had to pick up. What was it? It was a, it was Saturday. I didn't have any friends to golf with. They were all busy. So I did a solo round of Flanders. And I booked it. And when I get there, it's with three friends, Nick. And I see one of them has a Giants towel on his bag. So I say, hey, look, you're a diehard. Are you a fan of the Giants? He says, diehard fan. It's like, okay, interesting. You listen to any podcasts. He's like, you know, I do listen to one podcast.

It's called Big Blue Banter with Dan Schneier.

1:13.5

I follow him on Twitter.

1:14.7

I was like, that's me.

1:15.8

And he's like, what?

1:16.9

And there's the coolest moment for me ever since doing this, actually meeting a listener.

1:20.7

Shout out, Colin.

1:21.5

And I'm sure he's listening right now.

1:23.3

And it just feels so good to like actually have that happen in public. And it was a fun round after that because it was fun around anyway, but shot of 102,

1:30.1

which is good for me, especially at Flanders, very tough course, but been bad recently.

1:34.5

Nick had a 106 and a 109 since then.

1:36.5

So things have trended in the wrong direction since that day, but I can live with that.

1:40.5

And that's golf.

1:41.3

But, you know, it's just so cool to actually have that moment in, in the wild. And that was at Flanders Golf Course. So I know some people who have, I tweeted about that, Nick have said they want to get out and golf. Maybe we'll do a big boo bantther, like golf out and get something. We get Nick out there. You get Nick, you get Nick for like, he's interested for like between, I would say between three and five holes before he loses It's pretty accurate, Dan. I would actually be 100% down for that, though. I like getting out like, dude, golf is, like I like the shit on it because it's more fun for me to crap on golf. At the same time, what's better than being out with just your boys drinking some brews or whiskey or whatever you're in nature and in hitting the ball around.

2:18.2

So I'm not completely opposed to golf. I just think it's kind of an elitist sport. It is in some way too. And I don't love that aspect of it. I'll be honest. But I like the other aspects of it, the being in nature. And mostly for me, the nature part is great. But for me, it's just when you're this type of person that I am,

2:35.2

somebody who's as competitive as I am, and you know this, we've had our battles. Any game where I could incrementally get better and like I can never keep, I can always get better. No matter how much better, I'm always going to want to get better, it just appeals to me. But yeah, Big Boobenter golf outing, we might do it. And I'll say this, and we'll end it here because a lot of people don't love the golf.

2:32.9

Like, there's only like 45 seconds to a minute, so we're okay.

2:35.8

Nick. me. But yeah, big move, enter golf outing. We might do it. And I'll say this, and we'll end it here, because a lot of people don't love the golf. This is only like 45 seconds to a minute. So we're okay.

2:54.7

Nick, for someone who doesn't golf is unbelievable at golf. And I think it's just a pure athleticism-based thing. This dude can actually get the ball in the air. And he never swings a golf club doesn't take any lessons doesn't has never looked at any videos or anything just all
