It's Friday, June 23, 2017 from slate. It's the gist, I'm Mike Pesca, been reading some

news. Did you know the Russians hacked the election? A lot of people are talking about

this. Not a lot of people who voted Republican. But the Washington Post had a blowout piece

to become pieces. It came in many pieces about how the Obama administration reacted to

this. And here was a quote that stood out to me. They were quoting a senior Obama administration

official involved in White House deliberations on Russia. You know, why didn't Obama, why

didn't the White House warn America more? And he said, or she said, it is the hardest

thing about my entire time in government to defend. I feel like we sort of choked. Oh,

choked. That's some sports radio fighting words. But I'll tell you why the Obama administration

didn't come out harder. It was this, he thought Hillary would win. We all thought Hillary

would win. And in the context of really believing that Hillary would win, what you do is you

say enough at the time, but you don't look like you're putting your finger on the scale.

And then a serious, competent administration with actually some fish to fry in this fight

takes office and does serious, competent administration things to root out future evils.

It all works out. If Trump's going to win, well, then you totally change your tactics.
