And we're going to talk today a little bit about some of the things we probably experience

as you live in the world around you, which for the most part rejects supernaturalism.

Now, I realize that lots of us are living in a part of the country or a

culture a little subculture in the country where there are lots of Christians and

that's so great I recognize this all the time when I'm in the South at my family's place in Texas.

That's a community where I mean for the most part everyone is familiar with the

Christian story and really the vast majority of people are church. I mean they're going to church. They are part of the

Christian culture. But where I am here in Southern California it often seems like the culture is

very much inclined against the idea of anything supernatural.

There is a sense of kind of ingrained philosophical naturalism in much,

many of the places that I kind of hang out and some of the folks I talk to and so you probably have experienced some of that yourself and this is why I think today we're going to take a little bit of time to talk about one of the most challenged aspects of the story of Jesus.
