Summary

We are back with a new season of The Scripture Study Project with an all new approach. This season we are asking questions--sometimes hard, often personal, always important--that have everything to do with our relationship with God and then studying scriptures in search of truth and understanding. This episode we start with our first question of the season drawn from Jesus' own word: do I really have to be "perfect"? The answer, and a study of that answer, takes us from the sermon on the mount to the calling of apostles to our own personal wrestles with perfection. Show Notes: Russel M. Nelson, "Perfection Pending" Jeffrey R. Holland, "Be Ye Therefore Perfect--Eventually" For past episodes on the Come Follow Me blocks, click below John 2-4 Matt 5, Luke 6 Matt 6-7 Connect with us on Instagram or Facebook Music: "Memories Replaced" by Josh Woodward

teach and learn together. Welcome back to the Scripture Study Project. We are here in 2023. We didn't

0:33.7

know we would be back. So we're welcome back to us. I was going to say we're welcoming back you and ourselves because at the end of

0:41.7

2022 when we ended our study of the Old Testament, we knew that we were ready to move

0:51.4

on from our weekly episodes of following along with a Come Follow

0:55.8

Me study. We have done now five years of weekly episodes, which I am kind of shocked that we did

1:03.1

that. And it was a lot of hard work sometimes to keep that consistency. But with a little bit of, I guess, I don't know what to say, sorrow

1:14.1

or sadness, we won't be doing the weekly episodes this year. But also with a lot of excitement

1:21.9

for us, because I think we felt like there was something more that we could do, as we debated even just,

1:30.4

you know, calling it quits and being done for now, but we just were ready to maybe go on a

1:35.9

different deeper level.

1:37.3

And the word I kept thinking of was slow it down a little bit for us to have more time

1:42.8

to study, to connect with you in different ways

1:45.5

and really to study things that were meaningful to us in context with the study of the New

1:53.3

Testament and maybe branching out a little from there. You know when we started this five years ago

1:59.3

six years ago, five years ago, about five, five years ago.

2:03.4

One of the main reasons we started, if you remember, was we felt like people weren't talking about scripture.

2:10.7

There just wasn't a lot of scriptural literacy.

2:13.7

And so we started that first book of Mormon season thinking, well, we can talk about scripture on a podcast.
