Welcome to the Jill on Money Show. It's Tuesday, December 28th. And boy, we are hearing a lot from folks who are talking about insurance lately. I don't know, maybe these insurance agents have year-end quotas or something. Like, it's been amazing. Maybe it's like the car dealerships that have to move cars

0:21.0

towards the end of the year. Don't forget, this is a good time to buy a car right at the end of

0:24.6

the year. End of the quarter, end of the year, good time to buy a car. If you can find one.

Today we are talking to Bill from Buffalo. Hey, Bill. How can we help you out?

0:34.1

Thanks, Jill. Well, just have some concerns. My wife and I just have some basic

0:40.9

retirement accounts, but we decided to meet with the person who manages my 401k and just get some

0:49.6

advice. She was suggesting for some retirement planning that we look at a whole life policy

0:56.7

to use as a sort of a volatility buffer as a non-correlated asset against the stock market

1:04.5

and integrating that with my wife's 403B and pension in addition to my 401K, everything that I've been looking at online just sort of

1:13.9

1:21.1

if that was a good idea. Okay. So very odd idea. First, let's go back. Tell me about yourself. How old are you?

1:30.1

I am 46. How old is your spouse?

1:33.1

38. And you have a two-year-old and any other kids?

1:37.4

No, but possibly another one sometime soon.

1:40.7

Okay, so two-year-old with an option to buy a second one correct okay great um okay

1:47.8

and tell us about how much you guys make together together we make about 151,000 okay i'll call it

1:56.6

150 and you both have retirement plans you said you have a 401k she. She's got a 403B. Is she a teacher or a

2:04.2

He is a teacher. Okay, great. And so she will have a pension, right? She does. Okay, great. And in your

2:11.6

retirement plan, what is the the investment option inside of that retirement plan? As far as it's just mutual funds,

2:19.9

basically that's all I know. Okay, so it's a bunch of mutual funds. Do you remember the company

2:24.9

that offers the funds? I think it's through mass mutual. Okay, this is what I'm getting at.

2:30.6

When you first said, I have a CFP and she started recommending whole life,
