Welcome to episode 93 of the Flying Free Podcast. Today I have with me

Becky and Rachel and we are going to be talking about what I believe is an

extremely important subject

for all of us to understand.

And the problem with it is that it's got two big words.

And sometimes, at least for me, when I see big words, my brain just goes,

and it goes offline.

I just don't want to think about anything that has big words in it.

So the two big words are complimentarianism and egalitarianism.

You know what the other problem is with those two words, you guys?

Isms.

I see isms.

I'm like, oh my gosh, that means like there's a whole package of stuff behind that and I don't even want it like let's not talk about that but here's why we have to talk about it because

those if we don't understand what those two terms describe a huge issue in the Christian church today and it's been an

issue for the you know for I don't know 50 60 years and well actually it's been a church issue for since the beginning of the church but

the reason that it's important into our discussion of emotional and spiritual abuse is that

complementaryism implies that men and women have different roles and that men are in leadership or have roles that are

powering over women. And egalitarianism talks of is basically means men at all people's being equal.

And the problem when you have an ism that teaches that one kind of person is and should be in power over another kind of person
