talk about a topic that was prompted by one of your videos Sam it was questioning the salience

of a number one song and so obviously that's something I think about a lot is like how we process the charts

in the world of streaming where we have less monoculture.

What does all of it mean?

And then of course, whenever we have questions about the charts, the first person I'm

going to call up is Chris.

So I really feel like we have the summit here.

But maybe what we should start with is Sam, I would love for if you could sort of summarize what your TikTok was about and your theory about like the lessening salience of number

one hits. Yeah so it's interesting that the catalyst for this video was Taylor Swift's

overlap. It's all right you were dancing through the lightning strikes. I don't think that's necessarily one of the most, like, I guess short, lasting

lasting chart hits if we're looking at all the number ones

of the past like five to ten years.

But it was kind of triggered because Opelite went number one because it had been hanging

around in or around the top ten for a while.

Taylor Swift did the music video, released a bunch of vinyl and other things,

and the song shot to number one for a week
