After the Denver Broncos 1-5 start, Sean Payton pointed to Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions remarkable turnaround as a team the Broncos could be moving forward. After beating the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns, it appeared Payton’s wild remark wasn’t so crazy after all. Much like the 2022 Lions with Jared Goff, the Broncos barely missed the playoffs in 2023. However, the Lions continued their momentum into the following season by not only winning the NFC North, but making it to the NFC Championship game where they narrowly lost to the San Francisco 49ers and Kyle Shanahan.
