An off day for the Colorado Avalanche as they will be traveling back to Seattle for a game six.

But that doesn't mean there isn't any playoff action going on as there have been

playoff stuff every single day, even if the schedule did get a little bit jumbled these last

couple of days. The interesting thing to me and one of the few conversations that I wanted to have here is every single series in round one will make it to at least game six.

Almost certainly some of them will go seven.

I can't remember the last time a round one has been this even across the board.

So I wanted to dive in and get your guys' thoughts on why that is and how things are this season in particular.

Some of the series aren't that surprising.

You could see this coming with a Dallas-Minnesota series, something like that, I think, for sure.

But what is it about this year that has so many close series going on?

You hint at it, I think, in the description for the pod, including scoring being up on the whole. I think that is one small

component, but a part of this, the NHL parody. Like, we even see the way in which home ice hasn't

really been an advantage for teams this year too. I think because when the regular season ends

and the Stanley Cup playoffs begins, I think teams

treat games by a game by game basis. And any given regular season game, it's why when

Anaheim comes through Colorado, I don't immediately count Anaheim out. And that's because of the

parody in the NHL. There's a lot of high skill upside in players today that I think has led to scoring being up in the

NHL as a whole. And I think that at this time of year, these teams have been whittled down to

among some of the best. And even though there are some lower seeds, Seattle finishes an 100-point team

for a reason. And I think this all sort of works together

to describe what we're seeing in these Stanley Cup playoffs rounds so far and why there hasn't
