You know, I don't think this is an overly complicated game on the whole.

The abs did not play well enough to win.

They didn't win, particularly Minnesota did a very good job of capitalizing on their opportunities, which the avalanche gave them.

It's hard when you dig yourself a hole to come back in the NHL, especially against good defensive teams like Minnesota.

And ultimately the abs come up a little bit short.

Uh, 60 second rundown here for you.

Let's start there.

Minnesota gets the first goal in the game fairly early on.

The first 10 minutes really was not particularly good hockey from Colorado. I think they got what they deserved there. You get into some weird nonsense penalty calling, which in the end results in a Byron breakaway, which he finishes to put the game back at one to one. You feel pretty okay at that point for Colorado. But a critical mistake, multiple mistakes really lead to a breakdown late in the first that puts the abs down to one.

And the abs just struggled to get back into the game from there.

They end up going down 3-1 in the second period on their own power play.

Just a terrible read from McCar gives up a breakaway.

That one ends up in the back of your net two.

And the aves spend the rest of the game chasing.

They do push back hard.
