0:27.0	There are calls across the country for this to become a work holiday, a national holiday.
0:32.0	It is the celebration of the emancipation of slaves in Texas,
0:38.0	which was not on the date of the Emancipation Proclamation.
0:41.8	It was on the date that, I think, news came that the Civil War was over,
0:46.9	because in a Confederate state, the slaves were not freed.
0:50.8	Actually, the Emancipation Proclamation only applied to the
0:53.4	Confederate States but the Confederate States of course did not liberate the slaves. But
0:58.8	in this has been a absolute long standing big very joyful holiday actually unifying holiday everybody celebrated in Texas every year. I knew about it from when I lived there
