While Jess is on winter break preparing new episodes of DNA ID for 2026, we are airing some of our favorite one part episodes weekly in what we call 'DNA ID Replay' episodes. These Replay episodes will air every week while on break with the exception of Christmas week. In this episode, we explore the case of Eve Wilkowitz which originally aired in episode 72.

20 year old Eve Wilkowitz's life was all coming together during the first few days of spring, 1980. She had a job she loved and a new boyfriend. Her daily commute into Manhattan from Bay Shore, Long Island was long, but Eve had plans to move into the city. Someone took all that away from her. After boarding the last LIRR train from the city to Long Island, Eve vanished. Her loved ones were frantic for three days, and their worst fears came true when she turned up dead in the backyard of a nearby home. Police turned her complicated love life upside down, and left no stone unturned. Their theory that Eve's abductor and murderer was a neighbor was correct – but they would not know that for decades to come.

And she hadn't shown up for a birthday party she was supposed to help run for his nephew on Saturday either. Eve should have been home no later than 2 a.m.ish the night before, but there was no sign of her.
1:45.9	Starting late Saturday afternoon, March 22nd, Robert started calling Eve's office and her friends
1:51.2	and family and walking their neighborhood looking for Eve. Meanwhile, Eve's father, Alfred Wilkowitz,
1:57.2	called the Suffolk Police Department on Saturday. He was concerned because Robert had called
2:01.6	him looking for Eve, saying no one knew where she was. Police told Alfred he had to go to the precinct in
2:07.5	Bay Shore, New York, where Eve lived from his home in Oakdale to file an official report. Someone else was also
2:14.2	worried about Eve, her colleague, Jack Dempsey. She had promised to spend
2:18.5	Saturday night with him, but hadn't called at their appointed time. He called around to other
2:23.4	work colleagues that he knew to see if they'd heard from her, but they hadn't. He called her home
2:28.2	number and talked to her roommate, Robert, who said he hadn't seen her. Jack told Robert that
2:33.5	Eve had taken the train home late Friday night.
2:36.8	Now Robert really started to worry, and so did Jack. The two talked about what to do and whether
2:42.3	to report Eve missing. After they disconnected, Jack called area hospitals to see if any ERs
2:48.8	had taken in a young female patient named Eve Wilkowitz or
2:51.9	a Jane Doe fitting her description. None had. Robert called the Suffolk County Police that night at 1115
