My wording on this is not an accident that is the news priority

in this announcement that the team made

this afternoon their their own headline

was that Derek Shelton was fired and that Don Kelly was named not interim manager but manager just to make sure that there's that full sense of permanence to everything.

Can't possibly be messing with something that's going this well.

Charrington not only gets off Scott Free,

but Charrington is permitted, and I know how this process works on the inside.

He's permitted to put a quote into the press release commenting on Shelton's firing. But he does so, and this is the part

that's fascinating, he does so without having any attribution to the opening statement that

Shelton has been fired. Follow me on this because it matters.

Anytime there's a baseball move, the phrasing is, whatever his full title is, General Manager

Ben Charington has announced. That was missing from this one. That means this wasn't his move that means this was

bob nutting's move but they don't put on there that it was nutting's move because that makes it

look like the GM has been defanged the GM actually has been defanged but they don't want you

to know that to try to put forth some, again, air of permanence to this whole thing.
